Skate Anywhere
Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
The short version: Skate Anywhere works offline. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it cannot connect to the internet. It does not take or keep photos of your room, and it does not use object recognition. What it saves, such as your progress and the parks you build, stays on your headset. Nothing about you, your room or your play is sent to us or to anyone else.
Who we are
Skate Anywhere is made and published by Potzer LLC, Howell, New Jersey, USA ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Skate Anywhere app for Meta Quest, including beta and test versions, and this website. Questions about it can be sent to contact@potzer.org.
Information we collect
None. The app does not ask for your name, e-mail, age or any other personal information, and it has no sign-in. It does not request internet access from your headset, so it cannot send data anywhere. It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software. Everything described below is processed and kept on your headset only, where only the app can read it.
What the app keeps on your headset
- Your progress and settings: medals, scores, unlocks, records, replays of your best runs ("ghosts") and your choices in Settings.
- Your desks, floors and parks: the outline of each desk or floor area you set up (marked by you, or taken from your headset's Space Setup), the real things you mark, scan or bring in from Space Setup (a book, a pencil, a table, a couch) and the skate pieces you place, all stored as shapes and positions, with the name you give each save and a reference to the Space Setup room it was made in, so the game can tell you when you are in a different room.
- Spatial anchors: markers that let your headset put a saved desk or floor park back in the same place in your room. They are created and stored by your headset's own system.
- Parks you build in Build a park: the venue and size, the pieces and goals you place and the name you give each park. These are made in virtual reality and hold nothing of your real room.
The app keeps no pictures of your room and no video. We never receive any of this. It stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. The app opts out of the headset's cloud backup, so backups do not copy it off your headset either.
From an earlier test version: some earlier test versions had a Skate Room in VR mode that could keep a copy of your room's layout and a look made from photos of your room. This version does not use them and cannot show them. If your headset still has them, Delete my room data (see below) or uninstalling removes them.
Your room, passthrough and Space Setup
In mixed reality the app uses features of your headset to show your real surroundings and fit the game to them: the passthrough view, the room layout from your headset's Space Setup (walls, floor and furniture such as tables and couches) and depth information that lets real objects hide virtual ones. These come from your headset's system and are processed on the device. The app reads the Space Setup layout of the room you are in to find a table for a desk park, to use your floor's outline for a floor park and to fit pieces round your furniture. It keeps only what goes into the parks you save, as described above.
Scanning your desk or floor
The editor can find the real things on your desk or floor for you instead of you marking them by hand. This is optional and only runs while you scan. It uses the depth sensor and, if you allow it, one of the headset's passthrough cameras. While the scan runs, the app looks at the camera picture a few times a second, in the headset's memory, only to tell the colour of your desk or floor apart from the things lying on it. Each picture is used as it arrives and then dropped: no picture is ever saved or sent anywhere, and nothing in it is recognised or identified. The scan keeps only the shapes and positions of the objects you choose to add, the same as objects you mark by hand.
Permissions the app asks for
- Spatial data: to read your Space Setup room layout (see above).
- Headset cameras: only for the optional desk or floor scan.
- Spatial anchors: to put your saved desks and floor parks back where you left them.
The app asks for the spatial data and camera permissions only when you first use a feature that needs them. You can refuse them, or remove them at any time in your headset's settings, and still play: the 23 Skate Spots, the Career Tour, the demo desk and marking things by hand do not need them. The app does not ask for internet access, and it does not hide or change your boundary.
Meta
You get Skate Anywhere through the Meta Horizon Store using your Meta account. Your purchase, your account, store reviews, crash reports collected by the headset's system and app updates are handled by Meta under Meta's privacy policy. Your Space Setup and the headset's own spatial data are kept by your headset under Meta's terms. Meta gives us totals and summaries such as sales, install and usage counts, which do not identify you.
This website
skateanywhereVR.com has no accounts, forms, cookies, analytics, ads or tracking, and loads nothing from other companies: its fonts, pictures and videos are served from the site itself. Like any website, our hosting provider's servers record basic request logs (such as your IP address, the page asked for and the time) to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use them to identify you.
If you contact us
If you e-mail us or use the contact form on potzer.org (for example, to send beta feedback), we receive what you choose to send, such as your name, e-mail address and message. We use it only to reply and to improve the game, and we do not sell or share it.
Deleting your data
Anyone, anywhere, can have their data deleted, free of charge:
- A desk or floor park: in Skate my room or desk, find it under My desk or My room, choose Manage, then Delete. Its outline, the things marked or scanned on it, its pieces and its spatial anchor are removed.
- A park from Build a park: in Build a park, choose Manage beside it, then Delete.
- All your room data: in Skate my room or desk, choose Delete my room data. It removes every saved desk and floor park (and anything an earlier test version kept of your room) and keeps your progress.
- Everything: uninstall Skate Anywhere. That deletes everything the app saved on your headset.
- Your headset's own data: Space Setup and spatial anchors belong to your headset's system; clear them in your headset's settings.
- Messages you sent us: e-mail contact@potzer.org with "Delete my data" and the address you wrote from, and we will delete your messages and contact details within 30 days and confirm by e-mail.
We never receive your progress, settings, parks or room data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
Skate Anywhere is intended for teens and adults (13+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a version of the app ever starts collecting information or sending anything off your headset, we will say so here before that version is released.
